The enthusiasm with which we offer Chris Laning's greatest achievement in peony breeding is perhaps understandable. The fact it gives a beautifully sculptured, many petals full double flower among early hybrid peonies would be enough. But that glow cools before what else is there. The startling blend of pink in varying concentrations over yellow as expressed in the many petals flower, sets this peony apart from all others. In Chris' words, "a flower of two colors divided into three sections, a pink one-third, then a yellow one-third, and the final third pink." The photo image gives a clearer picture.
Closely packed, ruffled and furled petals build into a model type full double peony form. The wide, full center fits closely upon the large outer petals of the opened blossom, giving a neatly outlined silhouette. Medium size flowers are set close to the bush, the overall look is one of harmony. Foliage is a rich green, the leaflets of moderate size and closely set. Stems 26-30 inches at maturity, may be somewhat spreading. Hollingsworth Nursery Item 2967.
