Late season Lactiflora. Parentage: unknown, origin China. No pollen, sometimes will set seed, a source of desirable plant health.

Of historic importance, an early survivor of the sailing vessel trip from China to England. A most healthy and vigorous peony. Its reliability and disease resistance along with the remarkable length of time cut buds could be held in cool storage then brought out for florist use enabled it to be one of the most cropped for USA commercial production prior to World War II.
