Best Landscaper® 'Early Glow'
Origin.: (Hollingsworth, 1992)
Group: Herbaceous Hybrid
Bloom period: Early Midseason
Bloom week: 3
Flower form: Single
Height: Medium
USDA Zone: 3 to 7
Item number: 0945

Details:

The single, large flower opens ivory and soon pales to white as the flower matures. The color is more pronounced in cool spring weather and of nearly yellow shade at first opening. Two rows of broad, rounded petals surround a cluster of golden yellow stamens. The filaments are light yellow and bare the fertile stamens. The carpels are pale green and tipped with crimson red stigmas. The crimson center highlights afford a pleasing color contrast. The gynoecium is normal, fertile and will set seed. Large seed capsules add ornamental interest after the bloom season. Altogether a fine flower of well-tailored form and good substance. Occasional side buds extend flowering and breeding options. The substantial bush exhibits an excellent plant habit. It is vigorous, fast to increase and produces a verdant bush within a few years of planting. It is a prolific bloomer, covering the plant in a blanket of color. The blooms are carried near the canopy of the dark green foliage. Self-supporting, strong stems are erect and well- clad in deep green foliage. The foliage remains attractive for most of the growing season well into fall. The bush holds its shape well against inclement weather events and staking is not required under normal growing conditions. It is an excellent variety for the perennial border and is particularly effective in mass plantings.
